Transformation Training & Workforce Development Unit

Creating a Stronger and More Responsive Behavioral Health Organization

The Transformation Training and Workforce Development Unit provides training and workforce-related activities to support the DBH/MRS system-wide transformation effort and enable the organization to provide the highest quality of behavioral health services. The Unit is comprised of two components to help DBH/MRS advance its vision across the entire organization:

Transformation Training. This group develops, plans, implements and evaluates training that addresses the DBH/MRS priority areas and helps advance the transformation of Philadelphia's behavioral health system.  Core principles are infused into the education of all stakeholders, which include:

  • People receiving services and their supporters/families
  • DBH/MRS staff
  • Contracted providers
  • Community groups/members of the community

Workforce Development. This group employs a multi-faceted approach to the enhancement of the behavioral health workforce in Philadelphia which includes:

  •  A Departmental internship program to facilitate existing and future internal internship placements for Masters and PhD level candidates
  • The development of partnerships with other community-based entities, colleges & universities and with the Mayor's Office to increase workforce capacity building and efficiency while providing opportunities for career advancement
  • Facilitation of the Unit Transformation Planning process to increase the Department's awareness of the core transformation values and principles.
