Providing Clarity to Achieve the Transformation Vision The Transformation Research Unit (TRU) develops and implements research strategies to advance the transformation of DBH/MRS to a more responsive and recovery-focused system of care. Because system transformation involves changes that are often complex and difficult to track and measure, the TRU uses data, research and management tools to help DBH/MRS measure its progress and drive organization-wide improvements in the services and programs provided to persons in recovery and their families. Its primary objectives include: Inform recovery orientation Enhance knowledge about how DBH/MRS is performing Assess the impact and effectiveness of recovery programs and services Provide analysis and evaluation of change efforts to policy makers, researchers, provider agencies, advocates, persons in recovery and family member(s) to help these internal and external stakeholders assess the department's recovery-oriented care system Advance the knowledge base about advancements in new recovery treatment practices Identify opportunities to drive further transformation of programs and services at both the individual and system level Provide an integrated or holistic perspective of recovery transformation through indices derived from evidence-based practices that accurately define recovery facilitating programs and services
