The Registration Unit was established to provide centralized registration for persons with mental retardation within the city of Philadelphia. Registration is completed for individuals three years of age or older who qualify for mental retardation services.

The Registration Unit is the first point of contact for receiving supports and services through MRS. It conducts important preliminary activities during the initial interview process, including:

• Developing the individual's personal history profile
• Identifying needed supports
• Determining clinical eligibility

Upon registration, consumers are referred to one of four supports coordination organizations.

The Individual Supports Unit ensures that services are provided in a timely, respectful and competent manner. Its primary activities include:

• Monitor and review budgets for providers and individuals
• Address individual concerns and systemic issues in the delivery of care
• Coordinate services with external government entities,
• Develop new resources and policies as needed
• Work closely with individuals, family members and advisory committees to ensure clients receive the highest quality of care and support
